Decks Crafted for Style and Outdoor Living
Quality Material Choices
When it comes to deck building, one of the big considerations should be what materials you want used. Choose from premium decking materials tailored to your lifestyle and budget with options like PVC/ composite, cedar and pressure treated wood.

PVC/ Composite Decking Materials
PVC is a premium material that has been manufactured to outlast any other decking material. This material requires little to no maintenance and comes in a variety of different colours. PVC decking has many benefits including: it is built to last a lifetime, generally more comfortable to walk on, they use hidden fasteners systems, and they are resistant to mold and rot.
Pressure Treated and Cedar Wood Decking
Pressure treated wood is a product that has been manufactured to withstand the elements better than untreated wood. It is the most common material we build with and is more affordable than composite. Cedar has naturally built properties similar to pressure treated that are more favourable for outdoor use. As a premium wood product, cedar is light to work with and smells great. Cedar can also be stained or painted almost immediately after its construction. Although wood requires maintenance to keep it's look and performance, it has a classic natural look that remains timeless.

Custom Features that Elevate Your Deck

Stairs
Stairs are a great way to add depth to your deck's design. Our custom built stairs are always created with consideration for comfort, safety and style.
We can assist in stair placement, rise, and width to ensure comfort, meet local building codes, and complement the overall layout of your space. Whether it’s a simple access point or a wide, welcoming staircase, we make sure it feels like a seamless part of your design.
Railings
Railings play a major role in defining the look and feel of your deck. We offer a range of options, from sleek glass panels to classic wood and metal combinations. Each railing system is installed with precision, durability, safety and visual appeal to match the style of your home.
Metal Railings
For both composite and wood decks the metal posts and pickets systems are a must. These railing systems have a wide variety of options including picket size and shape, handrail styles, and multiple colours to choose from, making it easier to match your living space.
Wood and Metal Combo Railings
Most of our wood decks use the wood and metal railing system from Nuvo Iron. This is a more affordable alternative to some of the other Metal Railing Systems and allows you to keep the wooden character of your deck seamless throughout it. With the wood and metal combinations, you still get the variety of picket shapes and sizes but for less of a cost.
Glass Railings
Glass is another option we provide for our homeowners. This is a fantastic way to maintain a view from your deck while also providing a wind break. This system can be used for wood and composite decks.

Privacy Screens
Create intimate areas to any space by adding privacy walls and sun-shade features that blend beauty with function, either on your deck or in your yard. We can make your space feel like an intimate and comfortable outdoor retreat with custom privacy screens and walls. These features help block unwanted views, reduce wind exposure, and add architectural interest to your deck. Whether you prefer a modern slatted design or a more traditional look, we craft solutions that blend naturally into your space.
A great addition to any deck or open space is a pergola. We can work with you to create a design that looks incredible, provides shade and character to your space. Pergolas are great at subtly designating lounging or entertaining areas all while making your space stand out. Similar to options available for decks, there are a variety of building materials applicable for use. Whether it is a simple design or something more complex, we are here to help you create a structure that enhances both comfort and architectural interest for your space.

Benches | Planters | Bars | Kitchen Areas
Built-in features turn a great deck into a true outdoor living space. At Deck Savvy, we design and construct custom benches, planters, bar tops, and fully integrated outdoor kitchen areas that blend seamlessly into your deck’s layout and style. Whether you’re creating a cozy seating nook, adding greenery with raised planters, or building a functional bar and prep space for entertaining, every element is crafted with the same attention to detail and durability as the deck itself. Using premium materials and weather-resistant finishes, we ensure your outdoor features not only look incredible but perform beautifully through every season in Southwestern Ontario.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a permit to build a deck?
In short.. sometimes. Permit requirements depend on a number of factors such as deck height, size, and attachment to your home. If your deck is freestanding (not using the house/ building for structural support), the height is under 24" and it's not a front porch, typically these do not require a permit. Regardless of what route you take, we can help guide you through the permit process and ensure your deck meets all local building codes and regulations.
How long does it take to build a deck?

Most deck projects are completed within one to two weeks, depending on size, design complexity, and weather conditions. During your consultation, we’ll provide a clear timeline so you know exactly what to expect.
Do you offer warranties on your deck builds?
Yes. We stand behind our craftsmanship and use trusted materials that come with manufacturer warranties. If you have any questions regarding either workmanship or product coverage we can help answer those.
How much does a deck typically cost?
Pricing depends on size, materials, and deck features. We provide free estimates so you can make informed decisions with no pressure. Learn about deck pricing in our Blog 2026 Deck Cost Guide.
Can you customize my deck design?
Absolutely. Every deck we build is fully customized to match your home, property layout, and how you plan to use the space — whether that includes built-in seating, planters, lighting, or an outdoor kitchen area.
What materials do you recommend for decks?
We build with both wood and composite materials. Wood offers a classic, natural look, while composite and PVC decking provide low-maintenance, long-lasting performance. We’ll help you choose the best option based on your lifestyle, budget, and design goals.
What areas do you service?
We proudly serve most of Southwestern Ontario. We have projects in London, St. Thomas, Strathroy, Komoka, Mount Brydges, West Lorne, Chatham and many other communities around!
